Day 1 - 10 to 20 minutes.

I will be allocating 10 to 20 minutes to reading His Word daily for the next year.

Today I began my reading with Luke at page 1200 and started with chapter 1. I took 10 minutes to read the text and another 10 minutes to read the supplements: "Big Picture", "Recovery Themes", and the "Luke" biography.

I started with Luke so that I might begin & end with the Gospels as I will circle back to Matthew & Mark after Revelations.

Chapter 1 Notes:

From the Text: When we have doubts or confusion about God's intentions we might learn more form listening than talking. See Lk 1:18-20

From "The Big Picture" pg 1199: "As we work through the process of recovery many of us discover just how terrible & destructive our sins have been. As the levels of denial peel away, we begin to see how sick and broken we really are. We may wonder whether there is any hope for us. How could God care for us after all we have done? In reading the Gospel of Luke, we can gain hope from the compassion God showed toward people who were a lot like us. God wants to show us how much he loves us, regardless of our past mistakes. He wants to have an active role in our recovery."

I will be commenting more thoroughly on my readings each Sunday.

Thanks for joining me - I look forward to your comments - SW
